Welcome to Memories and Legacies.
Interviewing people about their lives was something I started doing when I was working in a hospice here in San Diego. Some great stories came out and I decided to make CD's for the family as a permanent conversation. This turned into a more formal interview process that is recorded and documented, customized any way the family wants.
I have heard from family members of hospice patients expressing their gratitude that they have a voice on tape with some stories they had not heard and some personal information they did not know. I am told it is very comforting to have the person's face and voice in the room after they are gone. I have been told that parts of the DVD have been played at a wake or a memorial.
I know I am truly fortunate to be able to be a part of a family's history for such a short time, but have such a lasting impact.
Then I started thinking about my own family history....and Pandora's Box opened.
