My name is Kathy Weyer, and I am a stepmother, step grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, life coach, entrepreneur, cheerleader, and one curious human being.  I have had the privilege of working with people at the end of their lives doing life reviews, happily reliving the past, making apologies, reconciling, and setting the record straight.  Many times old memories bring about a chuckle and a twinkle in the eye that hasn't been seen for months.

I have worked in hospices and have done my counseling internship in grief and bereavement in various hospices.  I have talked to widows, children and grandchildren who consistently say they wish they had known more - had taken the time to get some stories straight.

There will always be mysteries, but the basic life information should be available to families.  I am working hard at the moment to unravel some mysteries in my own family that are becoming quite challenging!  If I had some basic information regarding one side of the family, this would be easier, but hey, I like a challenge!

This is my father.  He died when I was 16.  His life is quite a mystery, for no discernible reason.  We were told that his birth certificate burned up in a courthouse fire.  When I started tracing back geneology, I discovered that the courthouse was brick and mortar and had been in existence since 1885.  Hmmm...I found his birth certificate on microfiche.  (I had to go to Iowa to do it, but there you are.)  Why the mystery?  I've tried to trace him through various employments, but he seems not to have existed.  I shall endeavor to persevere to discover the man I never knew.

This is his sister.  I never met her, and he rarely spoke of her.  When I went to Iowa to trace geneology, I discovered that she was actually the child of another set of parents (apparently unmarried) with the same last name.  I have to deduce that she was raised by my grandparents quietly as their own - I wonder if my father ever knew the truth (or is it the truth)?
